Dear Kamala Crusaders,

Welcome to Day 90 of our 100 Days of Action! Today, we’re spotlighting the backbone of our nation’s future: our teachers. We’re also excited to highlight the Harris-Walz ticket and its strong commitment to education.

The Power of Educators in Our Democracy

Teachers don’t just educate; they shape the future of our nation. They instill values, foster critical thinking, and prepare the next generation of citizens and leaders. Today, we’re calling on all educators to recognize their power in the classroom and at the ballot box.

A Ticket That Understands: Governor Walz Joins Vice President Harris

Black Women for Kamala is thrilled that Vice President Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a former high school teacher, as her running mate. Governor Walz’s background as a social studies teacher and football coach at Mankato West High School in southern Minnesota brings a unique perspective to the ticket.

As governor, Walz has demonstrated his commitment to education:

  • Implemented free breakfast and lunch for most Minnesota schoolchildren
  • Signed a budget with major funding boosts for Minnesota schools
  • Introduced a $1,750 per child annual tax credit to reduce childhood poverty
  • Signed a free college tuition program for Minnesota families earning less than $80,000 a year

Governor Walz is a true testament to what’s possible when we elect leaders who understand the importance of education and are committed to supporting students and families.

And while we are proud to taunt the accomplishments of Governor Walz on education, we must also be aware of threats to public education posed by Project 2025.

The Stakes: Project 2025’s Threat to Public Education

Our public schools are foundational to our democracy. However, initiatives like Project 2025 pose a serious threat to the future of public education. If implemented, Project 2025 would:

  • Eliminate the Head Start early education program, which serves over 1 million children annually
  • Cut federal loan programs that help parents of college students, graduate students, and immigrants afford higher education
  • Remove protections for LGBTQ+ students in schools
  • Dictate what students learn in higher education by disproportionately funding programs that push a specific ideological agenda
  • Potentially strip public schools of funding, protections for students, and high-quality curricula

Today’s Call to Action: Teachers, Commit to Vote

We’re asking all teachers and educators to take the following steps:

  1. Commit to Vote: Pledge to cast your ballot for the Harris-Walz ticket.
  2. Spread the Word: Encourage your colleagues to commit to voting as well.
  3. Educate Your Network: Share information about the Harris-Walz education initiatives and the potential impacts of opposing policies.
  4. Set an Example: Use your vote as a teachable moment for your students about civic responsibility.

Why Your Vote Matters

  • You understand the real issues facing education today
  • Your vote can help shape policies that directly affect your classroom and students
  • By voting, you’re protecting the future of public education and the students it serves

Take the Pledge

Visit https://bit.ly/Commit2Vote4Kamala to formally commit to voting in the upcoming election. Let’s show the strength of educators at the ballot box!

Share Your Story

Are you a teacher committed to voting for the Harris-Walz ticket? Share why on social media using #EducatorsForHarrisWalz and inspire your colleagues to do the same.

Remember, when teachers vote, they’re not just casting a ballot – they’re delivering a lesson in democracy that resonates far beyond Election Day. Your vote is a powerful tool to protect our public schools and ensure all students have the opportunity to learn, feel safe, and thrive.

In solidarity and determination,

Waikinya
